Kid Cudi - Review of Man on the Moon II: Legend of Mr. Rager

Okay, So I've been meaning to get to this post way before now, but can I just say I am personally in love with Kid Cudi's New album, Man on the Moon II: Legend of Mr. Rager,

I don't know why I doubted his creative capabilities but, he definitely produced a quality body of work. This album did a different take on Man On The Moon series, departing from his first Man On The Moon which was somewhat dark, but it dealt primarily with his ambitions and pursuit of dreams, this sequel goes into a darker reality of Kid Cudi. Man On The Moon II has definitely separated him from the backpack weed rappers, which he could've easily been mistakenly typecast into; and its oh so frequent now a days.

The overall feel of the album is kind of all over the place, but in a very diverse and good way. He used a lot of the same producers from the first album, so the sound is alternative, but it's not like anything that's out, its definitely refreshing needless to say. One of my favorite tracks, Mojo So Dope, boasts the sample from Choir of Young Believers "Claustrophobia", definitely a dope track. If you judge the album off the single Erase Me, then you are greatly misguided, because the album is completely different than that one song. It doesn't really fit into a box, which makes the album.

He has a lot more guest appearances on this album which is very different than the first album including: Cee-Lo, Kanye West, Chip Tha Ripper, GLC, Nicole "Make It Hot" Wray (lol), St. Vincent, Cage, and Mary J. Blige. Unlike other artist who use guest appearances to hype an album up( kanye's album *side eye*), the guest appearances are well thought out and add a certain essence to each song.

Anyway...I can go on and on, but I'd rather you take a listen, give it a chance, and be the judge for yourself.
